While I detest the fact that people rape our borders, more do I find it aborrhent that we Americans think we can take from someone freely what they have worked for so hard once here. We seem to forget so easily lessons we should have learned so well from the Indians we gravely injured as did we injure the African people so many years ago. Where is our sense of fairness?! Once they are here and working, actually paying into OUR system, by whatever means, the money belongs to THEM – IT IS NOT OURS TO TAKE. wHAT IS WRONG WITH US?

Greed and fear seem to be driving our decisions and words. These things make for a poor future I think. Calm, thoughtful decisions, looking into the soul of another human being before judging might be the best part of American thinking – I know it isn’t lost.

I am 50 years old, born and raised here in the USA and love this country. I believe others who weren’t born here love this country just as much and possibly even more simply because they can appreciate the freedoms we have in a way we cannot possibly understand.

Just my opinion of course.

I ran across your blog on Smart Girl Politics, and wondered if it was the same Killbuck Creek I knew from when I lived in Ohio, and sure enough, it is.

Ohioans from that area are the kind of salt-of -the-earth people that are a beacon to the world.

My own blog used to be “The Burton City Hubcap” (named after Burton City itself) but is now “Captain Slackchain”.

I will add you to my list.

As a person of LDS faith, I think it is far from flattering that you put Michael Savage as a person who thinks positively of Mitt Romney and his beliefs. SAvage is nothing but a rude bigot, and he puts the first amendment into slander. How can 8 million Americans listen to and believe a person who obviously has some issues with himself. SHame!

Hi Robin: I also have a daughter named Robin Metzner, altough her married name now is Stout. She has served in the Canadian Military and spent six months in the Golan Heights, peace keeping.
Her husband, who is in reg. forces just did a term in Afghanistan. She is no longer in the military but knows all the ins and outs, being a military wife now. They have one little girl and a second baby on the way, due November 2nd.
I hope life is good to you and I wish you well. Keep smiling and keep your head down. Hugs to you.

That illness as well as “Narcissistic personalty Disorder” (the mental illness his bible study employee also suffers from), are both psychopathic disorders, that ruin the lives of any one who they are involved with. These people rarely if ever, seek professional help. And on the rare occasions they do seek help, they remain the same, incurable. They are considered to be ‘antisocial’ illnesses. Look it up in any psychiatric manual.

I think it is very hard to “convert” some of the dedicated Democrats and followers of Obama. I know of many people that are sold out for Obama even though they don’t agree with half of what he stands for.

Even the most Republican of us know that there were aspects of George W Bush’s presidency that we did not like (i.e. out of control spending during the last two years of office). Point out those things.

If you show them that you will take a shot at “your guy” for screwing up, they will likely agree that it is an issue that is a flaw for both candidates.

I am not saying that we should take cheap shots at president Bush for things. Neither am I suggesting that you give up your convictions. I am just saying that we can turn the tables on several issues by getting them to agree that Bush was wrong to do it, then pointing out that Obama, Pelosi, and the Gang are doing the same thing.
